The awful situation of Terri Schiavo, which lasted for more than fifteen years probably cost hundreds of thousands of dollars in medical care and even more legal costs, could have and should have been avoided by her simply signing a Living Will.  The official term for a living will is a “Directive to Physicians”.  Our state legislature authorized these valuable documents by law (RCW 70.122.030) in 1979.

I have done approximately 150 wills for clients.  There are frequent reminders in this newsletter that everyone should have a will.  A simple will for a husband and a wife can be done very cheaply.
