One of the most watched documentaries is a movie now available in video stores: “Supersize Me”. The fast-food industry, especially McDonald’s, makes the claim that their food is healthy. They claim that dieticians generally agree to this proposition. In “Supersize Me”, a young man who is completely healthy decides to test this thesis. What he does is documented in every detail by the film. He decides that he will go from McDonald’s to McDonald’s around the country for one month and eat only McDonald’s foods for breakfast, lunch and dinner. During the course of the month he has to have everything on the menu at least once. One of his rules is that he will never ask to be “supersized” but must accept if offered. Most of the time that is exactly what happened. Before he began his “diet” he had himself completely checked by a cardiologist, general physician and nutritionist. They continued to monitor him throughout the month. He also made it a point to ask each McDonald’s he visited for their nutritional chart which is required by law to be available.
